Ph.D. Program

The Centre for Theoretical Physics at Jamia Millia Islamia is a research centre funded by the University Grant Commission, Govt. of India. The Centre currently focuses on Cosmology and High Energy Physics. The aim of the Centre is to be at the forefront of research bringing together particle physicists, cosmologists and astrophysicists within a unique interdisciplinary culture. Currently the faculty members are M. Sami (Gravitation, Cosmology), S.G. Ghosh (Gravitation), Sanjay Jhingan (Gravitation, Cosmology), A.A. Sen (Gravitation, Cosmology), Rathin Adhikari (Particle Physics) and Tabish Qureshi (Foundations of Quantum Mechanics, Quantum information).

The Centre invites applications from highly motivated students to pursue doctoral research. The CTP students must complete 2-semester rigorous course (Graduate-School) work before pursuing research work.

Courses for the pre-Ph.D. course-work:
First semester

  1. Mathematical Methods I - Syllabus
  2. General Relativity and Cosmology I - Syllabus
  3. Quantum Field Theory - Syllabus
